Solveig was born Nov. 24, 1934 at Rochester, Minn., to Norvald and Agnes (Linnevold) Maakestad. She grew up and attended school in Rochester and Sioux Falls. Solveig married Richard (Dick) Beckmen on May 31, 1956 at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., where they met in the orchestra. She was mother to Kari (Neil) Sorensen, Siri (Jeff) Sorenson, John (Abby) Beckmen, and Mikkel (Lois) Beckmen, and grandmother to Siri and Annika Beckmen and Anna and Jorey Sorenson.
Joseph “Joe” F. Zimprich, 92, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD. The family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon. A Liturgical Wake Service will follow beginning at 6 p.m. at the Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, also at Risen Savior Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Jasper, Minn.
Louise Thorsgard, 85, of Brandon, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at her home in Brandon. Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 2025, at Blessed Redeemer Lutheran Church in Brandon. Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Norris, S.D., at a later date.
