Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, with a family-led Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Larry Long, 86, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Lyle E. Schroeder, 89, of Sioux Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at Ava’s Hospice House, with his family by his side. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. A private family interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls, prior to the memorial service.
Rollie David Smith, 79, Brandon, S.D., died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Rollie fought a long and hard battle with heart disease, but in the end, it took its toll on his body. He died peacefully, with his family at his side.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at Brandon Lutheran Church with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the South Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery.
Rollie David Smith was born April 2, 1945, the son of David and Elsie (Kehr) Smith in Sioux Falls. He was raised and educated in Sioux Falls. Rollie proudly served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1965. He worked as a nurse at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital and then was a barber in Brandon for over 30 years. Rollie was united in marriage on Oct. 18, 1986, to his wife, Carol Doppenberg.
Cora Mae Haskell entered star nation unexpectedly on Friday, July 26, 2024, at IHS Hospital, Eagle Butte after a very brief bout with lung cancer. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at Cheyenne Eagle Butte Auditorium, Eagle Butte. Burial was in the Eagle Butte Cemetery.
Jack Robert McCann, 29, of Indianapolis, Ind., and formerly of Brandon, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024. A Celebration of Life is planned from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Perspective, 525 N. Weber Ave., Sioux Falls.
Thomas 'Tom' Hildring, age 47, of Sioux Falls, went to his heavenly home July 28, 2024, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, with his family at his side. Tom’s Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at the George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, following the funeral service. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, August 23 prior to the funeral service.
