Deb K. Dawley, 59, of Sioux Falls, passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017. Private services were held.
Deborah Kay Dawley was born Sept. 22, 1958 in Salina, Kan., to Darryl and Harriett “Kay” (Leach) Dawley. She grew up and lived in and around the Sioux Falls area for her entire life, except for living in Yankton, S.D., for a year with her best friend, Mark Hopper.

Willard O. Kuhnert, 94, of Valley Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Private family services will be held.
Willard Oscar Kuhnert was born to Walter and Hattie (Kautz) Kuhnert on July 29, 1923 in Beaver Creek, Minn. He grew up on a farm near Rowena, S.D. Following high school graduation, Willard continued to help farm on the family place. Willard married Darlene Hocke on July 29, 1945 at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church, rural Valley Springs. The couple farmed near Valley Springs their entire married life.
Willard was a member of Beaver Valley Lutheran Church. He loved to play the accordion and had taken lessons from Myron Floren.
Mardella C. Cook, 97
Mardella C. Cook, 97, of Brandon, SD died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa. Her committal service will be held Friday, Oct. 13 at Brandon Lutheran Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Brandon Lutheran Church. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at George Boom Funeral Chapel in Brandon, where the family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
Mardella Christensen, daughter of Oliver and Caroline (Nelson) Christensen, was born Oct. 29, 1919 in Vienna, S.D. She grew up there. Mardella attended Aaker Country School in Pleasant Township, Clark County and graduated from Vienna High School in 1938. She earned her Teaching Certificate from Sioux Falls College in 1940. Mardella taught at Anderson Country School in Clark County. She then taught elementary grades in Egan, S.D., and later in Arlington, S.D.
Funeral services for Vincent Donelan, 83, of Sioux Falls, were held Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at St. John American Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Private interment will take place at St. Michael Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Donelan died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma.
Vincent James Donelan was born April 9, 1934 to James C. and Laura (Meisner) Donelan. He lived in Sioux Falls throughout his 83 years. Vince attended St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic School. On April 14, 1955, he married Marianne Pyper. SVince retired after 34 years at John Morrell & Co. He also worked for the City of Sioux Falls Water Department for eight years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
Jerilyn Kille, 65
Jerilyn Kille, 65, of Brandon, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Brandon Lutheran Church in Brandon. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at the George Boom Funeral Chapel in Brandon. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, Minn.
Jerilyn A. Scott, daughter of Earl and Marcella (Scheerhorn) Scott, was born Dec. 16, 1951, in Luverne. She grew up and attended elementary school in Hardwick, Minn. She graduated from Luverne High School with the class of 1969. On June 7, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Dale Kille, after hitting it off at the DMV. They moved early on and spent time in Topeka, Kan., and Fort Dodge, Iowa, where sons Jesse and Jonathan were born. Later they moved to Luverne, and eventually settled in Brandon. Jerilyn worked with her parents at the family bar and grill in Luverne called Scotty’s. Her favorite job was delivering flowers for Jubilee in Brandon where she so enjoyed being able to put a smile on the faces of those receiving the flowers.
Sandra (Sandy) Moeller passed away on Oct. 2, 2017 in Brandon, S.D. at the age of 73.
Sandy was born to Alfred and Oriet Raap on Feb. 26, 1944 in Sioux Falls, S.D., and lived her childhood years in Montrose, S.D. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1962 and went on to attend school at Sioux Valley School of Nursing, which she graduated from with her RN degree in 1965. Sandy went on to get her BSE from Southern State College in 1974.
Sandy and Roger Moeller were united in marriage on June 18, 1966, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Sandy and Roger enjoyed 51 years of marriage during which they were blessed with three children. During Sandy’s career she worked at the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell, S.D., and enjoyed 33 years of service with the Sioux Falls School District where she taught at the LPN school and was a school nurse at Axtell Park Middle School. Sandy was also an active member of the School Nurses Association and other professional organizations.
Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy (Splonskowski) Boldt, 94, of Marion, was held Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion.
Mrs. Boldt died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion.
Dorothy was born Feb 17, 1923 to Charles and Marcella (Devine) Splonskowski in the farm house near Marion. She lived most of her life in the Marion vicinity. She graduated from St Mary’s High School in Eugene, Ore. She attended Notre Dame Jr. College in Mitchell and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Sioux Falls College. On Aug. 1, 1943 Dorothy married Alfred Boldt at Yuma, Ariz. She taught 28 years in one-room country schools, Monroe Elementary, and the last 17 years at Marion Elementary, retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed volunteer work, including the Tieszen Memorial Home Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion, St. Mary’s Altar Society, and the Senior Citizens’ Center.
Funeral services for the Rev. Gerard “Jerry” DeLoof, 95, of Sioux Falls, were held Sept. 23, 2017 at Chancellor Reformed Church.
Rev. DeLoof died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
He was born in 1921 in Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He went on to and graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary. In 1950, he married Verladyne Saunders. Jerry ministered to several congregations across the U.S., most recently at Second Reformed, Lennox and Chancellor Reformed.
He is survived by his wife, Verladyne, Sioux Falls; children, Tim (Sandy) DeLoof, Sioux Falls, Marilyn (Steve) Ward, Brookfield, Wis., Don DeLoof, Lennox and Steve (Mary) DeLoof, Brandon; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Chancellor Reformed Mission Fund or Words of Hope.
Sadonna Marie Larsen (Williams), 69, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2017 from complications during surgery at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. A family viewing was held Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at Heartland Funeral Home, in Brandon. Burial will be in Spring Valley Lutheran Cemetery, near Viborg.
Sadonna was born to Richard and Bernadine (Gorath) Williams on June 8, 1948, at Canova Memorial Hospital. She attended school in Emery. She was married to Doug Buehner, which brought forth four children, Kim (Tim) Ament, Shari (Dave) Brannan, Mike (Joletta) Buehner, and Brandi (Gabe) Pooler.
Sadonna married Lowell Larsen on Jan. 25, 1985. They lived in Mobridge until 2010. In 2011, she moved to Brandon. She worked at Larsen’s Jewelry and as a nurse at the Mobridge Nursing Home.
Sadonna is survived by her mother; four children; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three special friends, Donna, Micki, and Fran; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Alvin Engbrecht, 86, of Vermillion, died Sept. 10 at Sunset Manor in Irene. Funeral services were held Sept. 14 at in Vermillion, with burial in the West Vermillion Cemetery in rural Marion.
Alvin married Evangeline Zanter in 1956. Evangeline died in 1995. In 1996 Alvin married Darlene Krogman.
