Robert J. Auseth, 77, of Brandon, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, under the care of Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, surrounded by his family. Memorial services are planned for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory in Sioux Falls. Interment will be in the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery, also in Sioux Falls. Rob was born Nov. 4, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to John and Francis (Swanson) Auseth. He graduated from O’Gorman High School in 1966. Following high school, Rob enlisted in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal along with several other military decorations.
Darlene Rae Petersen, 91, of Brandon, passed on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at Bethany Home in Brandon.
Doris Mangold Polzine, 89, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, in Flandreau, S.D. 
Verla Elaine Rebel Sturdevant, 97, of Sioux Falls, former business office staffer at Sioux Valley (now Sanford) and Dell Rapids Hospitals, Brandon elections official and co-owner/operator of Lyle’s Dairy Queen in Dell Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 surrounded by her family. Her memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Hills of Rest Cemetery. The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the El Riad Transportation Fund and the Dow Rummel Foundation.
Harley D. Barz, 91, Sioux Falls, formerly of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away under the compassionate care of Dougherty Hospice on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025.
Ronald A. Anderson passed peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 at Brandon Lutheran Church, 600 E. Holly Blvd, Brandon, with burial at Brandon Cemetery.
Doris Mangold Polzine, 89, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, in Flandreau, S.D.  Doris Ann Mangold was born at home in rural Worthington, Minn., on Dec. 30, 1935, to Clifford and Lorraine (Moriarty) Mangold. She went to country school and then to school in Brewster, Minn. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1953, then went to Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, S.D. She married Edward Polzine on Jan. 22, 1956, in Brewster, Minn. The couple lived in Sioux Falls, S.D., until 1964, then moved to Brandon, S.D. Doris worked as a teacher’s aide for the Brandon Valley School District, then worked in the bookstore at Augustana College in Sioux Falls for 10 years. In 1975, the couple bought a Dairy Queen in Brandon, which they later named Brandin' Iron Café.

Verla was born on her family’s farm near Olivet, S.D., on Feb. 15, 1928, the only child of Henry and Elda Hehn Rebel. A 1946 graduate of Hurley High School, she obtained a teaching certificate from General Beadle State College, then taught for two years at a multi-grade rural school near Parker. She then moved to Sioux Falls, where she graduated from Nettleton Commercial College in 1949 and worked for several years at Sunshine Mutual Insurance Co.
Stanley Sasker, 79, of Luverne, Minn., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 at Sanford Luverne Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at American Reformed Church in Luverne, with visitation prior from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens near Luverne. Leona “Lee” Knowlton, 101, of Brandon, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at the Bethany Home - Brandon. Visitation with the family present will be from 4-6 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Ave. in Sioux Falls. Private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
