Absentee voting now open for April 8
municipal elections
Absentee voting is now open to voters in both Brandon and Valley Springs for the Tuesday, April 8 municipal elections. Ballots are available at the respective city offices. Absentee voting is open until April 7.
Large Group Contest at BVHS, BLC
Brandon Valley High School is hosting the 2025 Large Group Band and Chorus Contest today, March 26. Performances begin at 8 a.m. in both the Performing Arts Center (Band) and Brandon Lutheran Church (Chorus). The performances are open to the public.
Districtwide Fine Arts Night is Thursday
Brandon Valley’s Districtwide Fine Arts Night begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at Brandon Valley Middle School. The event, which is a celebration of all mediums of art, offers various stations of art-centered make-and-take projects.

Vietnam Veterans Day’
The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion (AL), Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will host a Vietnam War Era Veterans Day Open House and Luncheon from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 28, at DAV Headquarters, 1519 W. 51st St., Sioux Falls.
Susan Leitheiser, associate director, patient care service/nurse executive with the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, will speak at 11 a.m. A Veterans Benefit Administration representative will speak at 1 p.m. and lunch will be served at noon. To RSVP, call (605) 332-6866 or email admin@davsd.org.
Celebration Baby Blessing give-away event is March 30
Celebration United Methodist, 500 Pasque Flower Trail, will give away more than 10,000 diapers and other baby necessities at a Baby Blessing event from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 30.
District 7 American Legion meeting is March 30
The annual District 7 Spring Meeting of the South Dakota American Legion will be held Sunday, March 30, in Garretson for Legionnaires from Lake, Moody, McCook, Union, Lincoln and Minnehaha counties.
The Legion business session will begin at 1 p.m. in the Garretson American Legion Post Home. The social will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch at 12 p.m. The District 7 Auxiliary will hold its meeting at 1 p.m.
