Apply now for 2026 BCF grants
Applications for the Brandon Community Foundation’s Community grant program are now open. Nonprofit organizations that serve the Brandon community and has a project that could use financial support will be considered for funding.
Applications may be applied for online at brandoncf.org/grants through Friday, Aug. 28.
Grants will be awarded at the BCF’s annual Oak & Vine event in late October.
BV Football Moms’ Night is Monday
Moms of Brandon Valley football players (grades 9-12) are invited to a fun, informative night on Monday, July 27 to learn more about the game. Grade 9 camp is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and grades 10-12 is from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Moms are welcome to watch camp activities, but the action just for moms starts at 8:30 p.m. in the BVHS weight room (South Door 14 near the large storage containers). A brief meeting starts the night to learn about the program’s goals for the players, and then moms will gear up to tackle (safely) their sons onto the pole vault pad. Moms will wear helmets and shoulder pads and have the opportunity to attempt a field goal kick. Coaches will also answer questions in small, position groups.
VFW ‘Chase the Ace’ fundraiser is Thursday
Brandon Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 continues its “Chase the Ace” fundraiser. Tickets are sold from 5-7 p.m. every Thursday, and at 7:30 p.m. a ticket is drawn, with the winner receiveing 10 percent of that night’s ticket sales total and a chance to draw for the Ace of Diamonds. Forty percent of each night’s ticket sales will go to the pot. Tickets are only sold on Thursdays and the person whose ticket is drawn must be present to win.
ReChurch collecting school supplies
ReChurch in Brandon is collecting donations of school supplies that will be given away to Brandon Valley students later this summer. The goal is to fill 150 backpack with supplies for local children.
Requested supplies are pencil boxes, markers, whiteboard erasers, erasers, Kleenex, bottles of glue colored pencil, wide-ruled notebooks, pens (red, back, blue), hand sanitizer, headphones, folders, watercolor paint, rulers, Clorox wipes.
Cars and Coffee on Saturday’s calendar
Brandon Cars and Coffee at Annie’s Coffee and Roastery, 721 N. Splitrock Blvd., Brandon, is planned from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, July 25.
