BV Journal office closed Thursday, Friday

The Brandon Valley Journal office will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. 

 

Warm clothing drive underway

Circuit Martial Arts & Fitness, Brandon, is collecting warm clothing now through Friday, Dec. 12. Donations of new or used clean coats, boots, gloves, hats, blankets, etc., may be dropped off at Circuit, 1124 E. Holly Blvd., Monday-Friday 3-6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m.-noon. 

 

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are canned chicken, pizza sauce and crust, mustard and ketchup, pancake mix and syrup, cake/brownie mix, peanut butter, pudding snack packs, shampoo, body wash, bar soap and laundry detergent.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may be dropped off at the BAFP, at Jones Family Eye Care and Lewis in Brandon.

 

Brandon Parade of Lights is Saturday

Businesses, organizations, families and neighborhoods are encouraged have an entry in Brandon’s 2025 Parade of Lights.

The annual event is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29. Parade line-up begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Brandon Valley High School parking lot. From the school, the parade route heads west on Holly Boulevard and turns left at Main Avenue, coming to an end at the VFW Post.

There is no cost to participate. No candy or trinkets are allowed to be handed out along the parade route.

In following tradition, following the parade, Santa Claus will be at the VFW for a special meet and greet. Hot chocolate and cookies will also be served.

If the parade is cancelled for weather reasons, Santa Claus will arrive at the VFW at 6 p.m. to visit with everyone.

 

WELCA Advent Brunch

Women are invited to the Brandon Lutheran Church WELCA Advent Brunch at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the church, 600 E. Holly Blvd.

Tickets are $10 per person. To purchase, call (605) 582-3401 by thiw Friday, Nov. 28.

The Brandon Valley High School Chamber Choir will perform and a love gift will be taken for the BV School District Angel Fund, which supports lunch accounts.
