Final leaf drop-off is Saturday
The city of Brandon has one final free leaf drop-off day scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15. From 8 a.m-3 p.m. that day, residents may drop off leaves and leaf mulch at the McHardy Park parking lot at no cost.
Only leaves, mulch, pumpkins, veggies and garden produce will be accepted. Leaves must be in cans or bags.

Valley Spring Military History is Nov. 16
Bill Flinn will give a presentation on Aircraft Carriers: Flight Deck Operations at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Valley Springs American Legion Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will also be served.
Soup & Pie Supper to benefit BFP
REchurch will serve up a soup and pie supper from 5-8 p.. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the chruch, 113 N. Splitrock Blvd.
A free will offering will be accepted, and proceeds will go to the Brandon Area Food Pantry.
BAFP annual dinner is Nov. 21
Tickets are now on sale for the Brandon Area Food Pantry’s annual fundraiser dinner, which is Friday, Nov. 21 at the Brandon Golf Course. A cash bar opens at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7, followed by a short program. Tickets are $45 per person or $360 for a table of eight. For tickets, call the BAFP at (605) 582-7001.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are canned chicken, pizza sauce and crust, mustard and ketchup, pancake mix and syrup, cake/brownie mix, peanut butter, pudding snack packs, shampoo, body wash, bar soap, laundry detergent.
For appointments, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Valley Springs Feather Party is Nov. 22
Valley Springs American Legion and Auxiliary will host their annual Feather Party on Saturday, Nov. 22.
Food will be served at 5 p.m. and games of bingo will be played from 6-10 p.m. for a chance to win a turkey or ham. The game of chance room opens at 6 p.m.
Brandon Parade of Lights on horizon
Businesses, organizations, families and neighborhoods are encouraged have an entry in Brandon’s 2025 Parade of Lights.
The annual event is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29. Parade line-up opens at 5:30 p.m. in the Brandon Valley High School parking lot. There is no cost to participate.
