Brandon area Scouting for Food is this week
The Brandon area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be in your neighborhood on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Oct. 21 and 23, and will return Saturday morning, Oct. 25 for their annual Scouting for Food Event in support to the Brandon Area Food Pantry.
Scouts will be hanging door hangers on front doors with information about the event this week. Residents are asked to place bags of non-perishable food items on their front porch/steps, which Scouts will begin collecting at 9 a.m. Saturday, which will ultimately be brought to the Brandon Area Food Pantry.
Brandon Historical Society talk on
irefighting is Oct. 26
The Brandon Historical Society will give a presentation on “Firefighting in the Brandon Area” starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 in the BVHS Community Room.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will also be served.
BV Band Turkey Supper, Indoor Marching Show is Oct. 28
Brandon Valley Band Parents will host the Turkey Supper and Indoor Marching Show on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the high school.
The Turkey Supper is served from 4-8 p.m., and the Marching Lynx will perform their 2025 field show, “Against the Grain” at 6 and 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the show only are $5.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are canned chicken, pizza sauce and crust, mustard and ketchup, pancake mix and syrup, cake/brownie mix, peanut butter, pudding snack packs, shampoo, body wash, bar soap and laundry detergent.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may be dropped off at the BAFP, at Jones Family Eye Care and Lewis in Brandon.
The BFP’s annual dinner is being planned for Friday, Nov. 21. Watch the Journal for more information regarding entrée sponsorships and table purchases in the coming weeks.
Rake the Town on tap for Oct. 24
Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Rake the Town” event is Friday, Oct. 24.
