Model train exhibit coming to Brandon Library

Model trains will be chugging their way into the Brandon Community Library from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. The exhibit will have interactive features for children to try. No registration is required.

 

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are canned chicken, pizza sauce and crust, mustard, ketchup, pancake mix, syrup, cake/brownie mix, peanut butter, pudding snack packs, shampoo, body wash, bar soap and laundry detergent.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Ed Polzine raffle drawing, pulled pork supper is Oct. 9

The Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed Fund will serve up a pulled pork supper from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Brandon VFW. A freewill offering will be taken. 

At 7 p.m., drawing for the “30 Guns in 30 Minutes” raffle will begin. Tickets (only 300) are $100 each and may be purchased at the Brandon Valley Journal.

 

City to sell surplus property via online auction

The city of Brandon of “cleaning out the closets”, so to speak, and will be selling surplus property via an online auction service, Purple Wave Auction (purplewave.com) on Tuesday, Oct. 14. All equipment will be sold as is.

ReChurch organizes Oct. 19 ‘coat swap’

ReChurch, 113 N. Splitrock Blvd., Brandon, is organizing their first Spread the Warmth Winter Coat Swap from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at the church.

At this event, coats, snow pants, hats and gloves may be swapped. Gear will also be available for those who have nothing to swap.

 

Rake the Town on tap for Oct. 25

Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is once again leading the charge to “Rake the Town” on Friday, Oct. 24. Individuals, businesses and organizations that wish to volunteer should register online, https://forms.gle/XrubDhMo9gRysa5CA. Raking begins at 8 a.m. and continues through 5 p.m.

Elderly and disabled residents in need of having their yard raked should email admin@brandonvalleychamber.com or call (605) 582-7400 to register.
