BV Optimist’s plan puzzle night

Teams of four are invited to compete in the BV Optimist Pizza Puzzle Palooza starting at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at Tailgator’s Grill & Bar. Participants must be 21 years of age or older and entry fee is $100 per team.

Teams will be challenged to polish off a pitcher or beer or soda and complete a 300-piece puzzle.

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are pancake syrup, Manwich, pizza sauce, saltine and snack crackers, canned chicken, canned carrots, granola bars, cereal and shampoo.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

City of Brandon July meetings

Brandon’s Park Advisory Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. The city council’s briefing meeting at 4 p.m. and the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting at 6:30 p.m. are scheduled for Thursday, July 17. The city council’s second meeting of the month begins at 6 p.m. Monday, July 21. Closing out the month is the council’s briefing meeting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.

All meetings are held at City Hall and as always, these meetings are open to the public.

Register for BVACC Golf Par-Tee

Grab your boots, shine those buckles and get ready to hit some birdies at the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Golf Par-Tee. The Par-Tee is set for Thursday, July 24 at the Brandon Golf Course. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

This year’s theme is “Boots, Buckles & Birdies.”

Upcoming BV sports meetings

Pre-season sports meetings for Brandon Valley High School cheer, dance soccer and girls’ tennis will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 28 in the BVHS Activities Center. 

The pre-season meeting for cross country and boys’ golf (both high and middle school), and football and volleyball (high school only) is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, also in the Activities Center.  The meeting for BVMS football and volleyball is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. The location is to be determined.
