BLC Fun Fest & BBQ is Wednesday
The public is invited to Brandon Lutheran Church’s (600 E. Holly Blvd.) Fun Fest & BBQ from 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4. The menu will feature smoked BBQ pulled pork, walking tacos, hot dogs. Family Treats Ice Cream will also be on site from 5-8 p.m. There will also be a raffle, bingo, bean bags and bouncy houses, along with 605 Camaro Vintage Cars. At 6 p.m. is True North Vacation Bible School and church service.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are granolas bars, bottled juice, canned soups (not Chunky-type), saltine crackers, canned pasta, small boxes of fruit snacks, bagged rice, cereal, laundry detergent (32 oz.), shampoo.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP. Used eye glasses may also be dropped off at Jones Family Eye Care and Lewis in Brandon.
Family movie night at Celebration UMC
Celebration United Methodist, 500 Pasque Flower Trail, Brandon, will host Family Movie Night beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, June 6. Inside Out 2 will be shown. A free will offering will be taken and there will be concessions. All proceeds will go to St. Jude’s and Sanford Children’s hospitals.
Arabian Horse Day is Saturday
Glory Bound Arabians, 808 W. Holly Blvd., invites the public to Meet an Arabian Horse Day from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 1. This free event will offer hay rides, coloring activity table, and Open Barn Art at the Farm.”
VS Legion BBQ is June 12
A BBQ fundraiser will be served from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 12 at the Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs. The menu includes grilled hotdogs, hamburgers, barbecues, coleslaw, calico beans, chips, fruit salad and drinks. Profits will be directed to the parking lot improvement project.
VS Legion plans flag disposal ceremony
Valley Springs American Legion will hold an Honorable Disposal of Flag Ceremony on a most appropriate day, Flag Day, which is Saturday, June 14. Beginning at 9 a.m. at Legion Park, flags that are no longer serviceable will be properly disposed.
