Miles for Mutts is Saturday
Anytime Fitness in Brandon is once again organizing Miles for Mutts, a 5K and Family Dog Walk to benefit B-Squad Dog Rescue. The event is Saturday, May 3, with the 5K and Family Dog Walk stepping off at 9 a.m. at Aspen Park.
Registration is $35 per person. Registration opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Participants can also run the race virtually any time prior to May 3.

Disc golf with the experts on Saturday
If you’ve ever wanted to try disc golf, then head to Pioneer Park in Brandon on Saturday, May 3. The event begins at 9 a.m. and goes though the morning. Local disc golf pros will be on hand to teach throwing techniques and how to play, followed by a tournament.
There is no fee to participate, but donations will be accepted for a local charity. The first 200 people will also receive a free disc.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are cereal, saltine crackers, Hamburger Helper, laundry detergent (78 ounces) and Kleenex.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Loyalty Day Parade is Sunday
Brandon’s 59th annual Loyalty Day Parade steps off at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4. The parade is an endeavor of the Brandon VFW Three Rivers Post 4726 and the Auxiliary.
Community organizations, businesses, churches, neighborhoods, etc. are encouraged to be represented in the parade. As always, there is no charge or pre-registration required.Parade lineup begins at 11 a.m. in the Brandon Valley High School parking lot. From there, the route heads west on Holly Boulevard and turns south at Main Avenue ending at the Brandon VFW.
Food trucks will be at the VFW parking lot.
Bike raffle tickets (one free ticket per child) will be available the day of the parade at the VFW starting at 10 a.m. However, one canned or non-perishable donation to the Brandon Food Pantry per child is suggested. The bike raffle will be held following the parade at the VFW. A parent/guardian must be must be present for their child to select a bike if their ticket is drawn. No tickets will be sold.
