BVHS Alumni Day
is Dec. 17
Brandon Valley High School Alumni Day is Tuesday, Dec. 17. BVHS grads that are home during college winter break are invited to “stay an hour or the whole day” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Alumni should check in with the office on the west side and then head to the auxiliary gym to offer wisdom and perspective to current seniors. Lunch will be provided, and participants should RSVP on Matt Christensen’s Facebook page.
MCAP’s holiday mystery opens this weekend
The Mighty Corson Art Players continue their 42nd season with the holiday mystery A Sherlock Carol by Mark Shanahan. The show will be performed over two weekends at the Corson Playhouse: Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 and 15 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at mightycorson.com/boxoffice or by calling (605) 582-2771.
BLC Advent Luncheon
Singer, song writer, story teller Amanda Ellison will perform at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at Brandon Lutheran Church, 600 E. Holly Blvd. Ellison’s performance follows the Advent Luncheon. Tickets for the luncheon are $10 each and may be purchased by calling the church, (605) 582-3401.
Doors open for the luncheon at 11 a.m. and the program begins at 11:30 a.m., along with raffles and door prizes. A “love gift” will be collected to benefit two families in the community.
Ellison’s performance at 1 p.m. is open to all. A free will donation will be collected.
Risen Savior Cookie Parade is Dec. 8
Risen Savior Catholic Church will host their annual Cookie Parade beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. Cookies and candies are pre-packaged and/or can be selected. A turkey croissants and soup lunch begins serving at noon.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are boxed potatoes, Hamburger Helper, fruit snacks (small boxes), pizza sauce and crust, microwave popcorn, Kleenex, shampoo, toothpaste and bar soap.
Donors are asked to check expiration dates. The Pantry cannot disperse items that have expired.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.
