Dinner and a show at BVHS this Thursday
Brandon Valley High School ‘s Creative Minds and CTE Foods students will host an Empty Bowls benefit from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the BVHS Commons, with proceeds benefitting the local food pantry.
A free will donation will receive choice of a hand-crafted pottery wheel-thrown bowl and enjoy soups, all made by BVHS students.
That same night is the opening night of BVHS’s fall play, “Big Fish: The Musical.” The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online at gobound.com/sd/schools/brandonvalley/tickets
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students, or with a BV Activity Pass. Seating is general admission and doors open 30 minutes before the show.
“Big Fish: The Musical” will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 14-15 and at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16-17.
WWI is topic of Sunday’s Military
Historyprogram
Brandon resident, Kari Beck, will give a presentation on “World War l: America prepares for the Great War” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Valley Springs American Legion.
Refreshments and a time for Q&A will follow the presentation. This event is free and open to the public.
Final leaf drop-off day is Saturday
The last free leaf drop-off day sponsored by the city of Brandon is 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, Brandon city residents may bring bags and cans of leaves and leaf mulch to the McHardy Park parking lot. Marv’s Sanitary Service will have trucks on hand for the leaves and leaf much.
Only leaves, mulch, pumpkins, veggies and garden items will be accepted. No branches, loose leaves or tarps will be accepted.
BAFP fundraiser dinner is Nov. 22
Brandon Area Food Pantry will host its annual fundraiser dinner on Friday, Nov. 22 at the Brandon Golf Course. Social hour (cash bar) begins at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m.
The goal of the 2024 dinner is to give thanks for the many blessings bestowed on the Pantry by the community and to continue giving the Pantry the ability to “feed our neighbors in need.”
Individual tickets are $45 per person or $360 for a table of eight. To sponsor an entrée, side dish or dessert, the cost is $360 and includes two tickets. Nov. 15 is the deadline to purchase tickets.
