In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Heartland Funeral Home, 1901 S. Frontier St., Brandon, is collecting donations of hats, gloves, socks and boots for children in the Brandon Valley School District. Donations may be dropped off through Nov. 15 at Heartland Funeral Home, Buddies & Co., 1309 E. Cedar St., Brandon, or The Man Salon, 5424 E. Arrowhead Pkwy, Sioux Falls, or during the Funeral Home’s open house from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.
BLC to host prayer
vigil on Election Day
Brandon Lutheran Church will be hosting a prayer vigil 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, which is Election Day. the church sanctuary will be open for prayer during the poll hours.
Nov. 11 is VFW’s 7th annual chili cookoff
The seventh annual Veterans Day Chili Cookoff begins serving at 6 p.m. at the Brandon VFW . Soups and stews may also be entered, along with cinnamon rolls, which also be judged. Prizes for first, second, third and hottest chili will be awarded.
The event is open to the public.

ygiene drive underway
VFW Three Rivers Post 4726 in Brandon is conducting a personal hygiene drive. All of the donated items will be dispersed to local area veterans in need. Lotion and deodorant are highly requested items. Donations may be dropped off at the VFW, 321 Main Ave.
