A number of Brandon area students are among the more than 2,400 University of South Dakota students who received spring 2025 Dean’s List and Academic Honors. These students earned at least a 3.5 GPA for their spring coursework.

Southeast Tech College awards 172 full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships
Southeast Technical College has awarded 172 full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships to incoming students. The scholarship covers a student’s tuition, fees, books, uniforms, tools and supplies. Now in its 11th year, the program has set recipient records for four consecutive years. All of this year’s scholars have an industry sponsor that finanically supports the scholarship.
Area scholarship recipients are: Tasha Boheman, Valley Springs, Early Childhood Specialist; Audrey Clyde-Koscielski, Valley Springs, Surgical Technology; Audra Genzler, Garretson, Medical Assistant; Ben Gonseth, Brandon, Welding; Katelyn Gray, Brandon, Licensed Practical Nursing; Macyn Kolseth, Brandon, Early Childhood Specialist; Briana Mendel, Valley Springs, LPN to RN Program (18 month); Jorja Olson, Garretson, Medical Lab Technician; Maci Rotert, Garretson, Licensed Practical Nursing; Tucker Taylor, Brandon, Electrician;
Evangeline Weingartz, Brandon, LPN (Evening).
Teveldal included on U of M-Crookston dean’s list
Baily Teveldal, of Garretson and an exercise science and wellness major at The University of Minnesota Crookston was named to the Spring 2025 Dean’s List. To qualify, students must complete 12 or more letter-graded (A-F) credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.
Niessink earns
President’s Honor Roll status at Bemidji State
Emma Niessink, of Brandon, was named to the President’s Honor Roll at Bemidji State University for the Spring 2025 semester.
To be eligible, students must earn a grade-point average of 4.0 for the semester and be enrolled in at least 12 credits of coursework. Of these 459 students, some have received distinction multiple times. This was Niessink’s second honor.
SFACF awards $500,000 in scholarships to area students
The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation recently awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to area students pursuing post-secondary education.
These scholarships are funded by donors and awarded annually to students continuing their education at colleges and universities as well as technical and vocational schools.
“The future of South Dakota is bright, and these students are shining examples of what is possible in our community,” said Patrick Gale, vice president for community investment for the Community Foundation. “As always, we were so impressed with the caliber of students who applied. We are so proud of the young people in our state, and of the many donors who believe in them.”
