BV's No. 2 doubles goes unscathed at home invite

Brandon Valley’s No. 2 doubles team of Kate Lundberg and Annabelle Schultz powered through the two-day BV Invitational unscathed, aiding the team to a 3-2 tournament record. In addition, Sydney Pelletier (flight 2 singles) came away from the Sept. 8-9 event with a 5-0 win-loss record. 

“She has become more consistent with her serves,  which has helped her to be more successful,” coach Adam Rothenberger said.

Lundberg and Schultz’s undefeated effort wasn’t handed to them. Sierra Hauff and Anne-Marie Rolando of Spearfish gave them a battle in the 7-5, 6-7(2), 10-7 outcome. They were also able to overcome Aberdeen Central’s Mariah Brandner and Allison Schock in a tight 10-8 match, and defeated Harrisburg’s Brooke Harmer and Emma Rangel by a slim 10-7 margin.   

In the team scoring, the Lady Lynx dominated three of their opponents: Vermillion, 8-1, Milbank, 7-2, and Aberdeen Roncalli, 6-3, and lost close 5-4 matches to both Harrisburg and Spearfish.

BV hosts Washington at 4 p.m. this Thursday and welcomes Madison (1 p.m.) and Yankton (5 p.m.) to the home courts on Monday, Sept. 18.
