Shirley M. Meyer, 89, of Ramona, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Madison Care and Rehab Center in Madison.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church in Madison. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Ellsworth Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. MST, Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
Shirley Meyer was born March 14, 1928, at Riverton, Neb., to Paul and Mathilda (Henkel) Meyer. She attended school in Campbell, Neb., and graduated from Campbell High School in 1946. Shirley married Glen Meyer on June 10, 1951, in Campbell. The couple farmed near Salem until 1962 when they moved to a farm near Madison, and later near Ramona. In 1976, they moved into Ramona and Shirley was a housewife until the late 1980’s. Following Glen’s passing, Shirley started working at the Ramona school where she was employed for over 20 years.
