Harriet G. Wehde, 91
Harriet Gertrude Wehde, 91, of Brandon, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.
A Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at Heartland Funeral Home in Brandon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Swedona Covenant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Swedona Covenant Church.
Harriet Gertrude Nordstrom was born on Oct. 21, 1934, to Hadleigh and Gertrude (Berggren) Nordstrom, on a farm one mile from her home that she has lived at for the last 45 years. She moved to her family homestead when she was 1 year old. Harriet had two brothers and a sister. She attended Sunrise Hills Elementary School and went on to graduate from Brandon High School.
Harriet married Harley Sievers, and had two sons, Ken and Mark. The family lived in Sioux Falls. She later married A.D. Wehde on July 17, 1970, in Gillette, Wyo. They then lived in Wyoming for 15 years. Harriet and A.D. moved to their current homestead in 1985.
Harriet enjoyed fishing. She caught her first brown trout in 1971. Harriet also loved pets, especially cats. One of her favorite things was going to church. She was proud to be a member of the church that she had been born into, Swedona Covenant Church. Harriet enjoyed the Women’s groups at church and the church picnics. She truly loved music, with her favorites being the Ambassador’s Quartet and OneWay Quartet.
Harriet is survived by her husband, A.D. Wehde; son, Ken (Cindy) Sievers of Casper, Wyo.; sister, Vi Wehde of Garretson; and two nephews, Jim (Deb) Wehde of Sioux Falls and Jon (Lisa) Wehde of Eagle River, AK.
Harriet was preceded in death by her son, Mark Sievers; parents, Hadleigh Sr. and Gertrude Nordstrom; and two brothers, Hadleigh Nordstrom Jr. and Donald Nordstrom.
