Hometown Heroes Banner program extends to Valley Springs
The Ed Polzine Fund has extended the Hometown Heroes Banner Program to Valley Springs. These banners will be displayed on poles along Broadway Avenue.
Valley Springs American Legion Post 131 in cooperation with the Ed Polzine Fund have launched this program as a living tribute for the community to honor past and present members of the Armed Forces. Clear photos must be provided. All photos will be returned. Digital photos are also welcomed. The cost of each banner is $150 with the Ed Polzine Fund providing the banner brackets. Checks should be made payable to Ed Polzine Fund. The banners have a projected three-year lifespan. Friday, Aug. 21 is the deadline to submit applications.

Apply now for a 2026 BCF grant
Applications for the Brandon Community Foundation’s Community Grant Program are now open. Nonprofit organizations that serve the greater Brandon community and have a project that could use financial support will be considered for funding.
Apply online at brandoncf.org/grants through Friday, Aug. 28.
Grants will be awarded at the BCF’s annual Oak & Vine event in late October.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are pickles, jams/jellies, flour, sugar, powdered sugar, brown sugar, seasonings and spices.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
ReChurch collecting school supplies
ReChurch in Brandon has begun collecting donations of school supplies that will be given away to Brandon Valley students on Sunday, Aug. 2. Their goal is to distribute 150 backpacks to local children.
Requested supplies are pencil boxes, markers, whiteboard eraser, erasers, Kleenex, bottles of glue colored pencil, wide-ruled notebooks, pens (red, back, blue), hand sanitizer, headphones, folders, watercolor paint, rulers, Clorox wipes.
