Big Sioux Showdown tourney Saturday at IceCat Arena

The first annual Big Sioux Showdown women’s hockey tournament will be played Saturday, March 21 at IceCat Arena in Brandon. Games are scheduled for 10 and 11:30 a.m., 2 and 3:30 p.m. Admission is free, and there will be a raffle and concessions (smoked meat food truck for lunch), with those proceeds going toward the ice rink.

Cotton Eye Joe will also be dancing and signing autographs.

 

Camp Invention seeks high school leadership

Camp Invention at Inspiration Elementary is looking for high school leadership volunteers this summer from June 8-12. If interested, contact Teri Huska at Teri.Huska@k12.sd.us.

 

Brandon Food Pantry list has new needs

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry Rice-a-Roni, pizza crust mixes, mustard, small boxes of fruit snacks, bottled Ranch dressing, bottled salad dressings and deodorant.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may be dropped off at the BAFP, at Jones Family Eye Care and Lewis in Brandon.

 

Veterans Benefits

Seminar at Brandon VFW March 21

The Brandon VFW will host a Veterans Benefits Seminar from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at the Post Home, 321 S. Main Ave. The seminar is for veterans and/or spouses of veterans.

Unlike previous seminars, tables will be set up for attendees to individually visit with representatives from the VA Hospital, SD Veterans Affairs, Futurity First to cover Medicaid/Retirement planning, and more.

 

ReChurch to host

Kids Easter basket give-away

ReChurch, 113 N. Splitrock Blvd., Brandon, is hosting a Kids Easter Basket Giveaway from 12-2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29.

 

Clear snow from fire hydrants

The Brandon and Valley Springs volunteer fire departments remind residents to help clear snow from fire hydrants near their home. Remove any snow and ice within a three-foot perimeter of the hydrant and clear a path from the hydrant to the street.
