Scott McGee, 47

Scott Douglas McGee, 47, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held Friday, April 5, 2024 at Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. 

Scott was born June 20, 1976 to Larry and Marlys (Twedt) McGee in Scotsbluff, Neb. When he was 9, the family moved to Brandon. He attended Brandon Valley High School. After Scott graduated from Brandon Valley, the family moved to Sioux Falls. He attended LifeScape, and worked for some time as a kitchen aide for what is now known as Children’s Specialty Hospital.

Scott loved sports, as a fan and an active participant. Scott started participating in the Special Olympics at 7 years old. He stayed active for 40 years, playing basketball, volleyball, softball, and more. He also attended every sporting event that he could, especially any of the Brandon Valley games. Scott also loved the race track and regularly attended races at Huset’s Speedway. Closer to home, Scott enjoyed staying active by mowing the lawn or shoveling the snow. 

Scott welcomed any person that he met into his life as a friend. He introduced himself to people without any hesitation, and once he met someone, he never forgot their name or face. Scott was a social butterfly who loved to talk with others. He was one of a kind, and a lovely friend to many, and he will be missed immeasurably. 

Grateful to have shared Scott’s life with him are his mother, Marlys McGee of Sioux Falls; sister, Nikki (Mike) Clark and their children, Marissa, Zach, and Ava of Omaha, Neb.; half-siblings, Amanda (Kyle) Bobak and her children, Brantley and Holden, and Caden McGee all of Idaho Falls, Idaho; stepmother, Susan McGee of Idaho Falls; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, Larry McGee; and his grandparents, Francis and Jennie Twedt and Jake and Leona McGee.
