William Hulzebos, 19

William Michael Hulzebos, 19, of Brandon, S.D., died as a result of a motorcycle accident on July 22, 2023 in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Brandon Lutheran Church in Brandon. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, at Brandon Lutheran Church.

William Michael Hulzebos was born on Nov. 23, 2003 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Lance and Leah (Adrian) Hulzebos. Will grew up in Brandon and attended Brandon Lutheran Church. He graduated from Brandon Valley High School and was currently attending Dakota State University for Digital Arts & Design. Will was excited to specialize in digital sound design for movies, music and large venue performances.

Will was employed at Hulzebos Plumbing, Heating & Cooling where he worked alongside his Dad and Grandpa daily. Previously, he worked at Menard’s in the plumbing department, and at Casey’s as an assistant manager. Will always put his best foot forward and dug in whole-heartedly to each and every task.

Although William’s life was short, he lived life to the fullest. A quote by John A. Shedd captures the essence of Will best: “A ship in harbor is safe – but that is not what ships are built for.”

William had so many experiences and so many hobbies. Snowboarding turned into longboarding, which turned into motorcycling and jet skiing. Fishing, Airsoft challenges, target shooting, car detailing, the list goes on... If Will loved something, he wanted you to love the same something. He was very inclusive and always wanted others to be as involved and enthusiastic as he was.

Will’s life was custom built; hand-made to his specification in every way. He was innovative, creative, and detailed in everything he did. He wanted to customize and shape everything to make it the absolute best it could be. If something was “off the shelf”, he wanted to improve it and make it better.

Will loved to find new recipes. The more complex and unique the recipe was, the more excited he got to make it. William grew Oyster mushrooms and Lion’s Mane mushrooms. Above all, Will loved meat. Meat was a passion; seasonings, various techniques, and the simple joy of eating it. Will’s love of food was balanced with his love for fitness. The fitness aspect began with his participation and dedication to Taekwondo. He was extremely disciplined and took pride in achieving his Black Belt.

Everyone who has rallied around Will’s passing is a reflection of Will’s love. Will would say to keep giving, keep going and keep continuing to multiply the love we are all sharing today. Even in death, William gave all that he could. Will chose to be an organ donor. Giving the gift of himself is something that he was always honored to do.

William is survived by his parents Lance and Leah Hulzebos, and his brother, Isaiah Hulzebos; grandparents, Allen and Phyllis Hulzebos of Sioux Falls, and Verlo and Andrea Adrian of Windom, Minn.; aunts and uncles, Valerie (Mike) Anderson, Ryan (Carie) Hulzebos, Carrie (Aaron) Wheeler, Jill (Andrew) George, Briana Visker, Taylor (Leah) Adrian, Cody (Lindsay) Adrian; girlfriend, Liv Reinsch; best friends, Peyton Lamb, Carsyn Koster, and Kyle Lundquist; 19 cousins, countless friends and a tremendous amount of extended family. Will’s dogs, Charlie and Gus provided unconditional companionship that he was sincerely grateful for.

William was preceded in death by his angel baby sister, Kate Hulzebos in 2020, angel baby uncle, Eric Hulzebos, angel baby cousins, Abbigail Hulzebos and Stella Hulzebos, and cousin, Kelsey Hulzebos.
