William ‘Bill’ Sundvold, 52

William ‘Bill’ Sundvold, 52

William “Bill” Sundvold, 52, of Garretson, S.D., died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at his home in Garretson. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to the family for future designation.

William Sundvold, son of Bennett and Lois (Olsen) Sundvold was born March 23, 1965 in Sioux Falls. He attended Brandon Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1983. He was united in marriage to Jody Johnson on Feb. 28, 2004 in Garretson. Bill loved gardening, old science fiction, the Twins and the Vikings; often at odds with son, Joe, who loves the Green Bay Packers, which made for wild times in the Sundvold living room when the teams played each other! His go to place to play was “The Pocket”.

Bill’s greatest passion was pool. Bill won numerous in-house pool league championships. He has been a member of the SD Amateur Billiard Assn. since its inception. Bill has played in the SDABA state tournament several times and has finished in the top 4 places throughout the years. He also finished 2nd place in the Grand Falls Casino Pool Tournament. Bill enjoyed bonding with his friends through a fantasy football league for several years. Bill was also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed several trips to watch professional football games.

He helped with Cub Scouts, and was always at Joe’s sporting events. Bill and Joe played catch any time they got the chance, shot hoops, went fishing, swam at the lake, and played pool together. Above all he loved his family and friends — his presence and the twinkle in his eye will be missed by many.

Left to cherish to his memory are his wife, Jody of Garretson; son, Joe Sundvold of Garretson; step-daughters, Sarah (Lance) Perrion of Ipswich, S.D., and Jennie Hegge of Brookings, S.D.; granddaughter, Bexley Perrion of Ipswich; parents, Bennett and Lois (Olsen) Sundvold of Sioux Falls; mother-in-law, Marion Johnson of Sioux Falls; brother, Steve (Kim) Sundvold of Queen Creek, Ariz.; sister, Cheryl (Mike) Estes of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; and brothers-in-law, Mike (Deb) Johnson and Adam Johnson, all of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, K. Joe Johnson and brother-in-law, Jay Johnson.
