BV alumni fall sports roster is out
My fall university, college/jr. college roster is out. I would like to thank the Brandon Valley coaching staff for helping me compile the rosters. As a reminder, this roster consists of just the university, college, jr. college sports that compete in the fall. As you scan over the rosters, it appears that Brandon Valley football is very well represented at the next level. It might be just a numbers game, as we all know that there are many participants or players in football. This year is no exception. It has not been that long ago that BV had eight players on SDSU’s football roster. If there are any former Lynx competing at the next level, please email me at bob@georgeboom.com.
Because of the length of the roster, I will not do a story on a particular athlete. My last article highlighted Iowa Hawkeye Matt VandeBerg. They were victorious over Wyoming 24-3 on Sept. 2. Matt hauled in two catches for 19 yards. He was also the Hawkeyes punt returner with three returns for 37 yards. Because this article was due on Friday, I hope Matt had another big day against Iowa State last weekend. Iowa will play North Texas (Mean Green Football) on Sept. 16 and the game will be televised at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
In closing, I would like to congratulate Erik Lien for being named the Brandon Valley Booster Club Volunteer of the Year! If you missed it, Erik and the game ball were delivered on Trauma One (Sanford Heath) helicopter before the start of Pigskin ‘17. Also, a huge thanks to this year’s chairs, Lynn and Terry Holms, and all the parents that represent the 22 sports that make up the athletic booster club.
