Warren E. Wallin, 76

Warren E. Wallin, 76, of Brandon, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with Rev. Dr. Siri Sorenson officiating. Visitation was held Monday, May 26 from 4-6 p.m. at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.

Warren Everett Wallin was born April 1, 1949, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Leonard “Turk” Wallin and June (VanBockeran) Wallin. He graduated from Washington High School and attended the University of South Dakota, where he became a Beta Theta Pi fraternity member. He met his future wife, Jeanne, or as he lovingly called her “Jean-o”, in ninth grade, but didn’t know it at the time. Their paths didn’t cross for many years, having gone to different high schools and other life experiences pulling them in different directions. Eventually, they did meet up, and Warren told his brother that he had met the woman he was going to marry. Sure enough, the two were married on March 9, 1973, raised a beautiful family in Brandon, S.D., and spent 52 wonderful years together. Warren was a member of the Army National Guard and worked at FM Acoustical Tile for over 30 years.

He was a man with a very unique sense of humor. Warren had never met anyone who was a stranger and was always kind to the many people he met along the way. He had a love for many hobbies, including golf, crossword puzzles, building things (he could make anything, most notably baby cradles, that he gave to those special to him), drinking Miller High Life (always poured in a glass), and being a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, even though both of his sons grew up to be fans of the rival team, the Minnesota Vikings. Nothing brought Warren greater joy than watching his kids and grandchildren in their various sports activities. He truly was a very proud dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Wallin; daughter, Tammy (Craig) Stadtfeld; sons, Tom (Marissa) Wallin, and Tedd (Teresa) Wallin; eight grandchildren, Mason Burke, Megan Stadtfeld, Piper Stadtfeld, Jackson Wallin, Jameson Wallin, Eliason Wallin, Makenna Schmitt, and Vivian Wallin; great-granddaughter, Eva Burke; as well as two brothers, Bruce (Kristi) Wallin of Sioux Falls, and Len (Donna) Wallin of Newport News, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Turk and June; sisters, Lois Wallin and Mary Sutton; in-laws, Nick and Vivian Jungen; brothers-in-law, Les, Mike, and Jeff Jungen, and one sister in-law, Charlotte Lottman.
