Ward 3 Alderman Tim Wakefield Jr. has filed his petition for nomination to be Brandon’s next mayor.

Wakefield was notified late afternoon Feb. 20 that his petition met the signature requirements for his name to be on the April 9 ballot.

“I was truly humbled this year that not only were residents willing to sign my petition, many also went out and collected signatures for me,” Wakefield said. “Having such a strong support network continues to solidify my ‘why’ for being interested in the mayoral position.”

Current Mayor Paul Lundberg filed his petition for nomination earlier this month.

Filings for mayor, a one-year term in Ward 1, and two- and four-year terms in Ward 2 close at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.

To date, Tim Jorgenson has submitted his petition for the Ward 1 role. Incumbent Dana Clark is seeking the Ward 2 four-year term, and Dave Kull, who will be retiring as the city’s police chief in April, has filed for two-year position in Ward 2.
