Valley Springs Legion Auxiliary hosts monthly meeting

The Charles R. Doman American Legion Auxiliary Unit #131 in Valley Springs held its monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. Old business included recaps of the parade season this summer, highlights from bingo at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, and a report on the flag presentation to the Valley Springs first grade class. New business included the upcoming fall district meeting in Tea.

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, members Gloria Bonjour and Noelle Bonjour gave a flag presentation to the first-grade class at Valley Springs Elementary. They taught students about the history of the flag, the symbolism of the flag, and some “dos” and “don’ts” of flag etiquette. Students were also given little flags and flag pencils.

The auxiliary’s next meeting is Monday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
