Valley Springs will hold its citywide clean-up day 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4.
The annual event is a popular and necessary event, said mayor Carl Moss.
“It lets people clean up their yards, avoids letting them get too cluttered, so we can keep the town clean,” he said.
Every spring, the city supplies empty dumpsters adjacent to the Valley Springs Fire Department at 308 Broadway Ave., and residents haul their own items to the site for disposal.
Public works superintendent Ryan Nussbaum supervises the clean-up day, which typically concludes with 10 full dumpsters.
The clean-up day is open to Valley Springs residents only, Moss specified, adding that there have been issues in past years with non-residents attempting to dispose of items.
Garbage, tires, batteries and chemicals aren’t allowed, either.
