Ullom, Talcott seek school board

Staff report
Two residents of the Brandon Valley School District have indicated their intentions to seek a seat on the Board of Education this year.
With two, three-year terms opening, current board president Renee Ullom has taken out a petition for another stint, in addition to Dr. Gregg Talcott, who would be a newcomer to the school board, but not to the school. Talcott will retire at the end of this school year after 19 years as principal at Brandon Valley High School.
As of April 30, neither had filed their petition.
School board members must be residents of the school district and registered voters.
Petitions may be picked up at the BVSD central administration building, 300 S. Splitrock Blvd. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 10.
Petitioners must also file a Conflict of Interest/Statement of Financial Interest form 15 days from returning a completed petition.
In addition to Ullom’s term, board member Cary Schroeder’s term is also nearing an end. Schroeder has stated he does not intend to seek another term.
An election, if warranted, will be held June 18. Elected board members will be sworn at the board’s organizational meeting in July.
