Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are microwave popcorn, pizza sauce, saltine crackers, hard taco shells, small boxes of fruit snacks, jelly/jam, Manwich, egg noodles, laundry detergent (56 ounces).
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Brandon Pool closing for season this Sunday
The Brandon Community Pool will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Until then, daily open swim is from 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:50 p.m.

Tickets on sale for Brandon Area Prayer Breakfast
Tickets for the 18th annual Brandon Area Prayer Breakfast are now on sale. The event begins at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at Brandon Valley High School.
A light breakfast will be served in the Commons, and the program begins at 7 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Guest speakers this year are Isaiah Neve, Ketty Paula and Kirk Strand.

Lynx Power Day at BVHS is Aug. 19
Brandon Valley High School students are encouraged to take part in Lynx Power Day on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Students will receive their laptops, parking passes, school IDs, library cards, purchase activity passes, have their school photo taken and more. The event is from noon to 5 p.m. and each grade is assigned a designated time: Noon-1 p.m. all seniors; 1-1:40 juniors A-K, 1:40-2:20 juniors L-Z; 2:20-3 p.m. sophomores A-K, 3-3:40 p.m. sophomores L-Z; 3:40-4:20 p.m. freshmen A-K, 4:20-5 p.m. freshmen L-Z.
Students will not be able to pick up laptops unless the tech form has been completed in Family Access, and insurance is pad for or opted out of.

Applications for the Brandon Community Foundation’s Community grant program are now open. Nonprofit organizations that serve the Brandon community and have a project that could use financial support will be considered for funding.
Applications may be applied for online at brandoncf.org/grants through Friday, Aug. 28.
