Supe's On: Keep reading to avoid the ‘summer slide’
The summer break is off and running! Between ballgames, the pool, and bike rides, do not forget to find a great book! The “summer slide” for students can be avoided through leisure reading.
Summer reading matters and a few key tips for successful summer reading include:
• Make it fun – Invite a friend to the library.
• Match interest and ability in selected books.
• Read every day.
Make leisure reading a component of your child’s summer routine to help ensure they do not incur summer learning loss and catch a ride down the “summer slide”. In collaboration with Siouxland Library and Brandon Pizza Ranch, we are offering a Summer Reading Program full of fun and prizes for students meeting the established summer reading goals. Contact the Brandon Community Library for details.
In the event you are planning for the upcoming school year, you can find the 2025-26 Academic School Calendar and Master Activity Calendar on our district website.
