Supe's on: BVSD launches 'The Lynx Way'

By:
Dr. Jarod Larson, BVSD superintendent
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! As the start of school is upon us, excitement is in the air. In addition to our current system, we have a number of new and exciting things happening within the district this fall. The Middle School is undergoing a major renovation project. As originally scheduled, the entrance and classroom spaces are ready for the start of the school year and the new office space and restrooms will be completed by late October. An exciting component of the Middle School project is the growth of our STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) program into the seventh and eighth grades.
Along with additional programming, we are launching an initiative. “The Lynx Way” is a districtwide approach to promoting positive student character, instilling the fundamental character traits we want in all students, and defining expectations.

“The Lynx Way”
We Are: Respectful – Kind – Responsible – Safe - Active Learners
I would encourage parents, guardians, and patrons to utilize the common language when working with our students. Together, we can promote positive student character.
One of the components of our initiative is being safe. I would ask all individuals to slow down and pay extra attention in and around our school zones. I’d also ask all parents and guardians to engage their children in a conversation about traveling safely to and from school. Whether driving, riding a bike, walking, or utilizing district transportation, obey all traffic laws and arrive to your destination safely.
We look forward to a great 2017-18 school year.
Go Lynx!
