Supe's On: BVSD continues strategic planning, celebrates excellence

The National Title I Association recognizes superior Title I programs through the Distinguished Schools program. Congratulations to our Fred Assam Elementary for being named a National Title I Distinguished School.

Quality classroom instruction and a strong curriculum are major contributing factors in our student success and the recognition received by Fred Assam. Utilizing data to identify and target deficiencies, create strategic grouping and provide informed instruction leads to proficient readers. 

On Thursday we will hold a celebratory event for students, staff, parents and the community at 1 p.m. in the Fred Assam gymnasium. Join Fred Assam Elementary staff and students as they celebrate excellence in education. Great work, Lynx!

Focus groups representing our students, parents, teachers, administrators and the board of education are engaging in a strategic planning process. In addition to focus groups, there will be a public meeting Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Brandon Valley High School community room for those interested in the strategic planning process. 

Looking ahead, there will be a two-hour early dismissal on Friday, Dec. 22, and no school Dec. 25 through Jan. 2 for winter break.
