Supe's On: BVHS seniors to make difference through ‘The Impact Project’
Moments of tremendous pride occur often within the Brandon Valley School as students and staff are continually working to engage in service projects that positively impact our school-district community. Whether community service clean-up days, Building a Brighter BV, a recent collaborative project completed by BVHS, Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Brandon Community Foundation.
At the BVSD Board of Education “Good News” report, BVHS shared upcoming opportunities for BVHS Students to – LEAD, LEARN, & SERVE. Beginning with the BVHS graduating class of 2027, all students will be required to complete an authentic learning experience through an internship or capstone experience. The Capstone Graduation Requirement, titled The Impact Project, brings the vision of a school without walls to life. It connects our seniors with community partners right here and gives students meaningful real-world experiences while exploring potential career paths. This benefits not only our students, but the communities that make up Brandon Valley for years to come.
BV will provide three possible pathways coordinated with the LEAD, LEARN, SERVE initiative. Lead: An Entrepreneurship where the student would discover how to create and manage a business effectively. Learn: With this Senior Experience, students will practice vital research skills that enhance understanding of complex topics, apply this knowledge in a real-world context through hands-on projects. Serve: In Service Learning, students will engage with local organizations to make a difference in the community through meaningful service-learning experiences. Together, we create learning environments for success.
