Ruth A. Greier, 80

Ruth A. Greier passed on to her Savior on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, while in hospice care in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Ruth Ann Wyum was born Sept. 1, 1943 in Luverne, Minn., to Ivan N. and Faye A. (Dunn) Wyum. The family lived on a farm in Hills, Minn., where Ruth attended grade school through her sophomore year of high school participating in many activities including marching band and chorus. The family were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, where Ruth was baptized and confirmed. The family then moved to Brandon, S.D. Ruth finished her junior and senior year at Brandon High School, becoming homecoming queen, graduating in 1961. She attended the University of Missouri on a music scholarship, eventually transferring to the University of South Dakota.
Ruth married Douglas M. Greier at Brandon Lutheran Church in Brandon. The couple lived in many different places including Norfolk, Neb.; Novato, Calif.; Boulder, Colo.; Ankeny, Iowa; and Rochester, Minn. To this union was born Heidi, Tammi and Mark. Ruth worked for her longtime friend, Harriet Green at The Paper Dolls in Rochester, Minn. Eventually, she purchased the business and reopened it as The Wallpaper Place in Rochester. She used her incredible decorating skills to decorate homes for her clients and for weddings, celebrations, etc., for friends and family. No one was a stranger to Ruth. She welcomed you into her home and graciously entertained you. Ruth moved from Rochester to Colorado Springs in 2016 to be near her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Ivan and Faye Wyum; her son, Mark Greier (2022); and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ruth is lovingly survived by her daughters, Heidi (Aaron) Kingstrom and Tammi (Tom) Heath; and daughter-in-law, Kerri Greier. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley (Lisa) Cooney, Jessica (Spencer) Kingstrom-Firpo, Miranda (Taylor) Pinto, Sydney Greier, Zach Greier, Nolan Kingstrom and Dylan Heath; great-grandchildren, Emelia, Sophie and Declan; sisters, Donna (Gary) Erickson and Deanna (Richard) Swenson; and many nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.
A lifetime of love is wrapped up in her arms as she rests with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:3
A Celebration of Life was held at The Palisades At Broadmoor Park in Colorado Springs on April 28.
