Patsy was born on May 3, 1952, in Spencer, Iowa, to Mabel and Russell Olson. She grew up on a farm and had a wonderful childhood with her parents and sister, Nancy. Patsy was baptized, confirmed and later married at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven, Iowa. She attended kindergarten through 12th grade at Ayrshire Consolidated School. She always said that many of her fondest memories were of her high school years. She was active in softball, basketball and band and passed down her love of sports to her kids and grandkids. She was also Sophomore Homecoming Attendant, Band Queen, and her senior year she was Homecoming Queen. Patsy always saw the importance of being a true and kind person and friend to everyone she met. After graduating from high school, she attended USD for one year before deciding to return to Iowa and get her associate degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. She then was able to land a job as a secretary at Estherville City Hall, which she worked at for two years. Patsy married her high school sweetheart, John Terveer, on Dec. 18, 1971, and they settled down in Estherville and began their family. They raised four children: Chris, Warren, Kent, and Jacque. Patsy and John and their kids moved to Brandon in 1983 after the John Morrell’s plant closed in Estherville. It was then that Patsy began working again as a secretary and cashier in Child Nutrition at Brandon Elementary School. She was blessed to work there for 40 years. She really enjoyed working with the kids at school as well as the many wonderful co-workers and managers throughout the years.

Patsy was a wonderful mom and grandma. She loved spending as much time as possible with her family and enjoyed attending her kids’ and grandkids’ many activities. She also loved having family game nights and family get togethers. Patsy also enjoyed going to movies, shopping, and cuddling with her pets, Annie and Kitty Kitty. She absolutely loved the color yellow. She was also very patriotic and loved her country. Patsy was a member of Celebration United Methodist Church. It is here that her faith and love of God flourished and continued to grow.

Patsy is survived by her husband, John; their children, Chris (Jill) Terveer, Warren (Nikki) Terveer, Kent Terveer, and Jacque Terveer; her grandchildren, Cade and Emma Terveer, Sydney, Brooklyn, Olivia, Jacob, Reagan, and Aubrey Berry, Lake, Aftyn and Kinsley Terveer, and Derek, Coral, and Ben Gonseth; her sister Nancy (John) Ketelsen; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; and her precious pets Annie and Kitty Kitty.

Patsy was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Mabel and Russell Olson; her mother and father-in-law, Mary and Vitus Terveer; her beloved dogs, Trixie, Dwight, and Sassy;  and cats, Tommy and Manny.
