Marilyn Ann Hoime, daughter of Alvin and Alida (Issacson) Hoime, was born May 23, 1931, in Luverne, Minn. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Kenneth Lutheran Church in Kenneth, Minn. Her marriage on Dec. 27, 1952 to Robert “Bob” Ode blessed her with 69 years of marriage, three loving children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Her early school years were spent at Augustana Academy in Canton, S.D. She would later earn her teaching degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She taught school in Watertown and Sioux Falls. Later in life she enjoyed substitute teaching in Brandon, Rowena, and Sioux Falls. After her marriage, Marilyn and Bob moved five miles south of Brandon where they started their dairy operation. They were later joined by sons, Gregg and Douglas. The family were named Sioux Empire Farm Family of the Year in 1993. On June 17, 2021, Bob and Marilyn moved to Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minn.

Marilyn was very active in WELCA at Brandon Lutheran Church.  n her free time, she enjoyed her Bridge clubs in Sioux Falls and Brandon. She was the epitome of a great hostess and enjoyed baking, cooking, and providing meals for the hired hands on the farm.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Gregg (Jane) Ode, Douglas (Amy) Ode; daughter, Allison (Jay) Rasmussen, all of Brandon; nine grandchildren, Alex (Alicia) Ode, Elisabeth (Trevor) Martinmaas, Ryan (Lauren) Ode, Grant (Jessie) Rasmussen, Erik (Gracie) Ode, Lance (Mariah) Rasmussen, Ethan (Krista) Rasmussen, Riley Johnson and Sam Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Aria, Aspen, Carter, Drew, Claire, and Ellis; siblings, Lorraine Olson, Eunice Minick, Judy (Don) Erickson, Kenny (Karen) Hoime, and Marcia (Bruce) Odenbach; and a host of additional family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills for their wonderful care they gave mom for the past 2.5 years.
