February programming at the Brandon Community Library has something for every member of the family.
Birth to 5
Preschool Storytime: Tuesday, Feb. 5,12, 19, 26 - 10:15-10:45 a.m. Encourage a love of reading and develop your preschooler’s early learning through stories, rhymes, songs and movement. For ages 3 to 5.
Toddler Storytime: Wednesday, Feb. 6,13, 20, 27 – 10:15-10:40 a.m. Nurture your toddler’s love of books through music, movement and stories, while developing language, motor and social skills. For 2-year-olds and their caregivers.
Kids K-5
Kids Create: Valley Springs Library – Thursday, Feb. 7 – 3:15- 4 p.m. Explore your creative side through stories, crafts, games and activities.
Tail Waggin’ Tutors: Saturday, Feb. 9 – 10:30-11 a.m. Book a 15-minute reading session with Dickens, a certified therapy dog and strengthen your reading skills. Registration required.
Winter Reading Program: Kids in grades K-5 are encouraged to read and complete BINGOs for the chance to win prizes. Bingo cards available at the library. The program ends Feb. 28.
Teens
Teen Bookmark Contest: Let your creativity blast off and help the library design a space-themed bookmark for the 2019 summer reading program. Three winners will be chosen. The contest ends March 15. To learn more, inquire at the library or visit siouxlandlib.org/teens/teenbookmark.
Adults
Brandon Library Book Club: Feb. 7 – 10:30-11:30 a.m. A book club for people who enjoy reading a variety of books. February’s discussion is on The Master Butchers Singing Club by Louise Erdrich. Call 582-2390 for more information.
Young @ Heart Book Club: Feb. 19 – 6:30-7:30 p.m. A book club for adults who enjoy young adult books. February’s discussion will be on the title, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Call 582-2390 to register and request book.
Author Visit
Gitchie Girl Uncovered authors Phil and Sandy Hamman, along with survivor Sandra Cheskey, will be at the Brandon Community Library from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 4. Registration opens Jan. 28.
President’s Day
The Brandon and Valley Springs libraries will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, in recognition of President’s Day.
