Letters to the Editor - VanHorn: Blake Rife gives District 2 voters another choice
I think it is important for people in District 2 to realize that we have a choice again this year.
In 2024, there wasn’t a Democrat on the ballot for State House in our district. This year, Blake Rife is stepping up to run, and I think people should take the time to get to know him before making their decision.
Blake is a teacher, farmer, and nurse. He has spent his career working with and caring for people, and I believe that kind of experience is valuable when it comes to representing our community.
Blake is holding a Meet and Greet on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. at Kingbird Coffee in Brandon. It will be a chance for people to meet him, ask questions, and hear why he decided to run for State House.
You don’t have to agree with everything a candidate says to come meet them. I think it’s healthy for our community when people are willing to listen to different perspectives and learn about the choices on their ballot.
The issues Blake is talking about – affordability, education, and healthcare – are things that affect all of us in one way or another.
I hope people in District 2 will come out, have a cup of coffee, and give Blake a chance to introduce himself.
At the end of the day, voters deserve a choice. This year, we have one.
