Leona Gilbert, 75

Leona Gilbert, 75, of Sioux Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, after a courageous 11-year battle with breast cancer. Her memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. Visitation with the family present will take place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, also at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls. 

Leona is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Gilbert of  Sioux Falls; daughter, Jackie (Osiris Shakur) Gilbert of Coon Rapids, Minn.; sons, Scott (Aubrey) Gilbert of Sioux Falls, and Jefferey (Barbi Roberts) Gilbert of Brandon; four grandchildren, Teysia Gilbert-Christion, Carson Gilbert, Bailey Gilbert and Daisy Gilbert; three great-grandchildren, Camren Thomas, Kaleah Thomas, Eliyana Selzler, and her beloved cat, Opie, all of Sioux Falls; siblings, Lon (Kathy) Lorenzen of Prior Lake, Minn., Linda (Steven) Lange of Slayton, Minn., Loren (Patti) Lorenzen of Onamia, Minn., Lynette (Beau) Brown of Brandon, and Lloyd (Cindy) Lorenzen of Elk River, Minn.; along with many nieces and nephews.
