Henry Van Wyhe, 87

Henry Van Wyhe, 87

Henry Van Wyhe, 87, of Brandon, formerly of Sioux Falls and Colton passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 at Community Reformed Church, Sioux Falls. Burial was in the Colton Cemetery, Colton.
Henry was born on Oct. 31, 1929 to Jim and Fannie (Zwart) Van Wyhe in Rock County, Minn. On Feb. 1, 1950 he married, Clazina (Veldkamp) Van Wyhe. Henry and Clazina farmed for 42 years in Minnesota and South Dakota. Farming was more than just crop farming for Henry, he raised livestock, started a feedlot operation and a trucking company. Van Wyhe Trucking was established in the mid-1970s with a red International Cabover truck and a livestock trailer. The size and number of trucks continued to grow. In the late 1980s, he moved the Van Wyhe Trucking office to Sioux Falls and expanded to hauling prefab concrete throughout the Upper Midwest. When it was time to retire, Henry decided that retirement was not a time to sit around. So, he enjoyed seeing the country delivering fire trucks across the United States and into Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Clazina Van Wyhe, Brandon; children, Arlyn (Barb) Van Wyhe of Hartford, Randy (Terri) Van Wyhe of Pine Island, Minn., Flora (Randy) Tieszen of Mitchell, and Bonnie (Bruce) Austin of Dodge City, Kan.; grandchildren, Michelle Parmer, James Van Wyhe, Jason Van Wyhe, Rollie Van Wyhe, Janelle Stahl, Wendy Whelpley, Kevin Van Wyhe, Aaron Wulf, Amber Neuheisel, Tyler Wulf, Melissa Bach, Joshua Austin, Caleb Austin and Jonathan Austin; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray (Carol) Van Wyhe of Luverne, Minn.; sister, JoAnn (Stan) Westra of Hull, Iowa; sister- in-law, Arlene Van Wyhe of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
