He’s not scary, he’s here to help

Every October, volunteers with the Brandon Fire Department venture out to local elementary and preschools to educate the youngsters on fire safety. They also take this opportunity to explain to the kids that a firefighter, when dressed in their fire gear, shouldn’t be feared. Fire Chief Justin Horn and volunteer firefighters Dustin Wagner and Jessica Weisser-Kelly (not pictured) talked with students at Robert Bennis Elementary on Thursday morning. The kids asked questions, shared their family’s fire safety plans and then got an up close look at a fire truck. Fire Prevention Week was celebrated Oct. 5-11.
