The Lady Lynx wrapped up regular season play on a victorious note, taking down the Huron Tigers 6-0 on Sept. 19 to record BV’s seventh straight game without giving up a goal and eighth consecutive game without a loss.
The Lady Lynx fired 30 shots at the Tigers’ goal compared to just one by Huron.
Goals were scored by Sam Taylor, assisted Chloe Askdal; Bre Langenhorst, assisted by Kaitlyn Gloege; Marlie Tekrony, unassisted; Langenhorst, assisted by Kennedy Nuebel; Katie Beiningen, unassisted; and Marya Schiltz, assisted by Kaitlyn Bannwarth.
“I’m so proud of the way our girls have battled back after a season that was in question when we started at 1-4,” said coach Jacob Shoup. “Our seniors led the way, and I’m so thankful for this group of girls. They stepped up from day one to lead this group and keep our team together and focused on what we wanted to accomplish.”
A pair of seniors - Sydney Nifong and Kianna Thelen - suffered season-ending injuries.
The Lady Lynx open post-season playww Saturday at McHardy Park, hosting the winner of Tuesday’s match between Sioux Falls Lincoln and Spearfish.
“We are excited to head into the playoffs but have a lot of time off in between games. We will have some big practices this week as we get ready for the quarterfinals,” Shoup said.
