The Brandon Valley boys’ soccer team looks to make it into post-season play next week after taking down Watertown and Harrisburg to go 2-1 on the week. BV’s only loss of the week, a 3-0 setback, came against second-ranked Lincoln on Saturday.
“With a few players missing for other school activities and injuries, the Lynx had a difficult time with a very athletic Lincoln Patriot team,” said coach Chris Limmer.
BV 3, Watertown 1
The Lynx took control early scoring back-to-back goals in the first half against the Arrows Sept. 14.
Lucas Johnson scored BV’s initial goal on a penalty kick. A minute later, Wyatt Haas found the Watertown goal, which was his fifth goal of the season and a team-high for the Lynx boys.
BV’s final goal came in the second half when Jacob Frantzen took a cross from Dylan Skovly and volleyed it in for Frantzen’s first goal of the season. Carson Johnke recorded two saves.
The Lynx fended off the Arrows for their fifth win of the season to post 5-3-2 record to date.
BV 1, Harrisburg 0
The Lynx shutout the Harrisburg Tigers Sept. 12, thanks to a goal by Jacob Johnson on an assist by Haas.
BV took 19 shots in the game and fired nine corner shots, compared to Harrisburg’s two shots on goal and single corner shot.
“I was disappointed we couldn’t score more, especially since we dominated the play, but I ‘m happy with the win,” Limmer said.
