Two Brandon businesses fail compliance check
 
Two Brandon businesses were among a group of seven in Minnehaha County that failed alcohol compliance checks last week. Forty-nine businesses with liquor or malt beverage licenses were checked.
Jokerz Casino and Expressway Convenience Store, both in Brandon. Also failing the check were State Line Casino, Rowena; and four Hartford businesses, Sunshine Foods, Char’d, Heart T Stop, and County Fair Foods.
Compliance checks are conducted periodically in Minnehaha County in effort to lessen alcohol sales to underage buyers.
 
County highway department implements winter hours
 
Minnehaha County Highway Department will go to their winter hours schedule starting Nov. 4. 
Winter hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The department is closed Saturday, and Sunday, as well as holidays that are observed by the county.
