One month into the season, and the Lynx bowling teams finally made their home debut against Dell Rapids on Friday.
According to Brandon Valley head coach Rich Blue IV, the “home cooking” translated into a buffet of success for the Lynx boys. Blue reports 16 of the 21 boys team members rolled season-best scores.
Darian Blue made things interesting right out of the gates, firing a series of eight strikes en route to his season-best 266 game. He finished with a 626 series.
Senior Ozzy Erickson produced his season-best 535 series. Unfortunately, the varsity 1 duo fell short in the 18-7 loss.
The varsity 2 team of freshman Maxwell Kane, senior Dustin Kemner and junior Trey Reindl ruled the lanes in their strong 23-2 victory. Each member of the trio registered their best game and series of the young season.
Kane flirted with perfection, Coach Blue said, by notching the first nine strikes of the game, ending with a 264 game to boost his 578 series.
Kemner’s contributions – a 225 game and 564 series - complimented Reindl’s 203 game and 572 series. Their effort also led the Lynx varsity boys to the overall 30-20 win.
The end result wasn’t quite as rosy for the Lady Lynx. The varsity 1 squad lost a hard fought 19-6 match, while the varsity 2 team’s 16-9 loss came down to the final ball. The girls’ match was highlighted by sophomore Kayla Watkins’ season-best 180 game and freshman Laura Kemner’s season-best 177 game.
Junior KJ Klockman secured her best game of the season, a 150, and senior Elizabeth Braley produced a 142 game, also her season-best, to pad her 357 series.
BV’s junior varsity boys won both of their matches. JV-1’s 20-5 victory was guided by senior Noah Holm’s season-best 200 game and 551 series.
JV-2 dominated the 22-3 match that was led by freshman Philip Harris, who delivered his best efforts to date, a 187 game and 517 series. Sophomore Kaleb Holm added a 206 game and 487 series to the victorious cause.
Blue also reports he’s seeing season-best efforts from the JV team’s back-up corps, Keaton Beyer, Landon Smith, Ian Erickson, Issac Jarzebczyk, Mason Rusten, Noah Bultje, Trevor Dean and Seth Waldner.
The Lynx wrap up their December schedule this Friday at Empire Bowl when they host Sioux Falls Washington at 4 p.m.
