Brandon Valley heads into the Class AA state playoffs as a top-four team for the first time in program history. The ranking gives the Lady Lynx a first-round bye and a home quarterfinal playoff game advantage.
Haylee Waterfall turned in another record-setting run, and this time the Brandon Valley senior accomplished the feat – her fourth this season - on the Hart Ranch Campground course during Friday’s Rapid City Invitational.
The Lady Lynx dance team produced its highest-scoring performance of the season Sept. 19, coming away with a second-place finish at the Huron Invitational.
The Lynx won the kick division and came in second in the jazz and pom divisions.
Brutal winds didn’t deter Mitch Gusso’s golf game, as the Lynx freshman led his team in a dual victory at Yankton’s Fox Run Golf Course on Sept. 19. Gusso opened with a 35 and closed out the back nine with a 43 for the 78-medalist honor.
Big plays and defense were definite factors in Brandon Valley’s 21-11 loss to Metro Conference foe, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, during Saturday afternoon’s road game at Howard Wood Field.
The Lady Lynx faced two separate Sioux Falls programs last week in Metro Conference dual action, resulting in a win and a loss. Brandon Valley handled Sioux Falls Washington 6-3 on Sept. 14, and fell short in the 8-1 loss to Sioux Falls Lincoln.
