Funeral services for Robert Roy (Bobby) Gullickson, 58, were held Sept. 8, 2017, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Flandreau, with burial in Midway Cemetery, rural Colman. Mr. Gullickson died Sept. 1, 2017, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Born in Flandreau on Nov. 6, 1958, to Bob and Faye (Sayles) Gullickson, Bobby joined a family of five brothers and sisters, dozens of aunts and uncles and 65 first cousins, most of whom lived in Moody County. The value of that large and loving family became clear in the summer of 1966 when a farm accident resulted in the devastating brain injury that changed his life. After recovering for several months at Sioux Valley Hospital, he received rehabilitation at Crippled Children’s Hospital and School. Eventually he came home to live with his parents in Egan. After his parents died, he lived with his brother Brad’s family in Brandon until health complications necessitated a move to a group home in Sioux Falls
Marilyn E. Swenson, 91 Brandon-Marilyn E. Swenson, 91, of Brandon, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at Bethany Nursing Home in Brandon. Private family services will be held. Marilyn E. Egge, daughter of Nels and Gunda (Hanson) Egge, was born Aug. 16, 1926 in Sioux Falls. Marilyn was united in marriage with Merle Swenson on Jan. 3, 1946. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Becky Mohr and her husband, Brian, Garretson, S.D.; two grandchildren, Jessica Hunsaid and her husband, Ryan, Garretson, Matt Mohr and his wife, Caitlin, Portland, Ore; five great-grandchildren, Addison Hunsaid, Cora Hunsaid, Berkley Hunsaid, Aidan Pitts, Elliott Mohr; a sister, Darlene, of Alaska; and many other relatives and friends. William ‘Bill’ Sundvold, 52 William “Bill” Sundvold, 52, of Garretson, S.D., died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at his home in Garretson. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to the family for future designation. William Sundvold, son of Bennett and Lois (Olsen) Sundvold was born March 23, 1965 in Sioux Falls. He attended Brandon Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1983. He was united in marriage to Jody Johnson on Feb. 28, 2004 in Garretson. Bill loved gardening, old science fiction, the Twins and the Vikings; often at odds with son, Joe, who loves the Green Bay Packers, which made for wild times in the Sundvold living room when the teams played each other! His go to place to play was “The Pocket”.

Hannah Nicolle Green Havermann, 14 Hannah Nicolle Havermann, 14, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at Avera McKennan Hospital. Hannah is survived by her parents, Joseph and Trudie Havermann; brothers and sisters, Jonathan Green, Cammy Havermann and Miranda Havermann; grandparents, Leander Havermann, Karen Havermann, Catrina Wistrom, Steve Zubko and Mary C. Jones; uncles, Daniel Havermann, David Havermann and Steve Jones; aunts, Angela Suing, Cindy Novak, Julie Havermann, Teesha Jones; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Memorial services for Marion Higgins, 85, of Sioux Falls, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Sioux Falls, with inurnment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mrs. Higgins passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017. Funeral services for Elaine Ganter, 82, of Sioux Falls, were held Aug. 28, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. She passed away Aug. 24, 2017.  She was born Oct. 30, 1934, in Estelline, where she grew up. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in Hidewood Township, Estelline.  She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Luke) Hieb, Brandon, Frederick D. (Katie) Ganter V, Cuba City, Wis., and Dennis G. (Julie) Ganter, Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick G. Ganter IV, in 2004, and daughter, Lezlie Ganter Youngberg, in 1987. */
Funeral services for Richard Douglas Hewer, 57, of Panhandle, Texas, were held Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Minnehaha Funeral Chapel in Garretson. Burial was in the Split Rock Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Brandon. Mr. Hewer passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at his home.  He is survived by his sons, Jesse (Shanda) Hewer and Jason (B.J.) Hewer; Jesse and Jason’s mother, Cheryl Swenson; siblings, Greg Hewer, Ginger Eahlenburg, Lonnie Hewer, Patti (Don) Fox and Julie (Scott) Clark. Delores Guimond Schwan, 72, died Aug. 18, 2017, at her home in Brandon.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Risen Savior Catholic Church, Brandon, with burial at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Calvary Cemetery, Tracy, Minn.  Delores is survived by her children, Kristin (Michael) Murray, Heidi Johnson (Shane Caldwell) and Noel Landuyt (Gary Schumann), and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Caroline and Hope Landuyt and Clayton and Anna Johnson. Lynn W. Howe, 80, of Brandon, died Aug. 13, 2017, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  Graveside services were Aug. 18 at Brandon Lutheran Cemetery.  Lynn Wesley Howe was born Nov. 11, 1936, to Otto and Leona (Shields) Howe on the family farm in Golden Butte. His grandmother was the midwife. When Lynn was 2 years old, the family moved to the farm where he was raised.  He graduated from Hettinger High School in 1954 and received his Bachelor’s degree in agriculture in 1959 from North Dakota State College. He honorably served in the National Guard, then went to work for the Department of Agriculture in Portland, Ore., Minneapolis, Minn., Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, Calif. He retired at age 56 and went into ranching in 1992 near the family farm.
